Overdose Awareness Day

What is Williamson County Overdose Awareness Day?

The Williamson County Overdose Awareness Day is a day to remember those who were lost, who are struggling, and who are in recovery!

Our goal is to promote awareness about opioid overdose and how naloxone saves lives.

Why should I participate?

Opioid Overdose is a problem nationwide.   78 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose.

This is someone’s child, someone’s mother/father, and someone’s friend. It’s somebody’s loved one!

Drug overdose is a social problem, nobody is immune to the impact of overdose.

  • Your participation:
  • represents emotional support for the family and friends who lost their loved ones;
  • demonstrates that you care for the healthy and safety of your community;
  • shows that you stand out against the stigma of drug-related deaths;
  • denotes your knowledge to raise awareness about the problem.

Why an Overdose Awareness Day in Williamson County?

Local families have been affected by opioid overdose. Many others are at-risk. Our County is no different from any other area of the Country. Research shows that opioid abuse, and consequently overdose deaths, have increased significantly over the last 10 years. The County numbers are not high, so it is the perfect time to PREVENT, to INFORM and to EDUCATE, so we can minimize the number of deaths.
