Executive Director, Julie Stevens, MPS, LCDC, ACPS
Julie Stevens comes to LifeSteps with over 24 years’ experience in the substance abuse addiction field. She was employed for 14 years with the Southwest Prevention Center of the University of Oklahoma as Training and Technical Assistance Specialist and previously served as Director of Prevention for the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Ms. Stevens is currently on the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals and is chair of the Prevention Committee. She is also chair of the Prevention Committee of the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baylor University and a Masters of Prevention Science at the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Stevens has been recognized as the Texas Association of Addictions Professionals Terry Hale Addiction Professional of the year in 2009 for her contributions to the advancement of the profession, was awarded the 2011 Presidential Leadership Award from the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium in recognition of her passion and commitment to creating healthy and safe communities and was presented the 2012 Master’s Academic Achievement Award from the College of Liberal Studies of the University of Oklahoma, which recognizes the outstanding master’s graduate for exemplary achievement.
In addition, Ms. Stevens is an adjunct professor for the University Of Oklahoma College Of Liberal Studies. She teaches core courses for Masters of Prevention Science Degree, including Foundations of Prevention and Prevention across the Lifespan.
She has been executive director of LifeSteps since January, 2013.
